I clearly remember the day that my husband and I sat down in the doctor’s office and received the official Autism diagnosis for our daughter, Brooklyn.
Brooklyn was approaching her 3rd birthday, and the two doctors who did her evaluation talked at us for over an hour explaining how life would be different. They told us all the things that she would most likely never do, they prepared us for what life could be like while sucking out every ounce of hope from that room.
I went home feeling defeated, scared, lost, and alone. I was just completely overwhelmed. That same day I was scrolling through Facebook and a video message from Dr. Jeremy showed up with a link to the Perfect Storm Workshop. It felt like a sign that I could not ignore, so I signed up immediately and attended the workshop 2 days later. I went into the workshop with an open mind, ready to listen to a different perspective. I heard him address many of the issues we had been facing such as delayed walking, delayed speech, sensory issues, constant illness, transitional breakdowns, and I felt like I had found someone that really understood our struggles. The most important message that I took away that night was that we are not alone, and that hope is not gone. We had found someone who knew that he could help our family and I felt like I could breathe again.
We made an appointment that same night and brought her in the next day. As a parent of a child with sensory struggles I knew going in that this was going to be a new adventure for us all and the doctor team at Experience Wellness was so ready for the challenge! The first month we were under care we would come in and just get used to the space. The doctors were so patient with Brooklyn. They let her get to know them and allowed things to move at her pace, on her terms. Once we got into the groove of things, we started to see changes immediately. Suddenly, We were seeing more wins at PT, OT, Speech, and the light within Brooklyn ignited.
Over the next couple months, we noticed that Brookly went from being sick constantly to rarely, transitional breakdowns started to become more manageable and family members noticed that she was more engaged. We felt like we were at home every time we went in for adjustments.
We have been under care for 3 years. Brooklyn has gone from non-verbal to being able to express and communicate her wants and needs. We used to shy away from public outings, but we are now able to take on new adventures and experiences. I find myself looking towards the future, making plans, and having dreams that I thought were impossible years ago.
We are so grateful to have attended this workshop. We are so grateful for our family at Experience Wellness. Our chiropractic journey started for Brooklyn, but now our whole family is under care and chiropractic care has changed our lives forever!
